About the Workshop
This is a 4 week workshop that will help you:
-
Unpack why many Black actors have mental blocks when approaching classical texts;
-
Instill confidence in the natural voice of Black actors when engaging with classical texts;
-
Introduce participants to approachable Shakespeare works;
-
Invite a sense of "play" within a Shakespeare play
About the InStructor
This workshop will be lead by Kimberly Hébert who studied Shakespeare in London from reknowned RADA and LAMDA tutors and has worked in acclaimed classical performances at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Intiman Theatre and Court Theatre. Her approach to text is truthful and individual, and her style of sharing is communal and embrasing. She is someone who finds joy in supporting actors on the journey of discovery.
